SquareStuds.A.S.nails

These square gold studs I have used here on my ring finger nail are from an online nail art website called sparklynails.co.uk
I ordered them (along with some other little goodies!) on Monday and they came on Wednesday - amazing! And I love them.
I've used Rimmel's gorgeous black cherry nail polish as well.

Top Tip: Use a dampened wooden orange stick to pick your studs up and carefully place them on your nails. Press down lightly and then seal with a clear top coat. (I added a second clear top coat over the studs when the first had dried...just to be sure!)

Enjoy! But....try not to chip yours while wrapping up all your Christmas presents! I'm hoping mine will last until Christmas Eve x

Pink&Gems.A.S.nails

A later post than usual today!

We have some nails that are simple enough to wear everyday, but with a bit of sparkle to remind you that its Christmas! As if you could forget :)

I bought a selection of gems online and these green ones were included. I've used Barry M's hot pink here. Then when they were almost dry I arranged my gems on my ring finger nail.
A clear top coat gives this great shine and also is essential to make sure you don't loose any of your gems!

Hope you like these simple, sparkly nails - not as festive as our other nail art recently but bright and cheerful enough to get you noticed.

Have a great rest of the evening!

ChristmasPuds.A.S.nails

Carrying on the festive theme of this week... (well, it is just 12 DAYS till Christmas!)
...I have some Christmas pudding nails to share with you all.

I used:
Barry M - mushroom brown
Rio nail art pens - white, red and green

I hope you think they look good enough to eat!!

Happy Thursday x

SnowySnowman.A.S.Nails

They say great minds think alike.... So when Alice told me yesterday to check out her newest post after seeing a picture of todays planned post I could only smile and give a little giggle at the fact we had come up with the same idea for the same week! So here are my Snowman nails...

For these I used slightly different colours, the base being Barry M Blue Moon (2 thick coats of this). Then for my lovely Snowman I used my Models Own nail art pens. The snow has also got little hints of Barry M silver foil effect in it!

I hope you're all starting to feel a bit more Christmassy! I'm hoping for snow so I can build my own Snowman... Just like last year (see picture below!).

Tuesday 11 December 2012

TheSnowman.A.S.nails

Aah didn't you just love The Snowman as a kid! Seeing the advert for the second one (that's celebrating its 30th anniversary on channel 4 this Christmas Eve!) makes me go all goosebump-y. I'm actually thinking of breaking tradition and staying in to watch it instead of going out for a couple of Christmassy drinks.
Anyway, this is what today's nail art is inspired by! I've used my new Barry M Gelly polish in blueberry which is a gorgeous icey blue, perfect for winter/snowy designs. I tried to make the snowman look just like The Snowman but its not as good as I would like as my white nail pens are running low - hint hint Santa ;)

I hope these bring back happy childhood memories for you...'we're walking in the air.....'

And have a lovely day!!

Winter.A.S.nails

Using Barry M's hi shine Gelly nail paint in Blueberry I've created a wintery nail art design. On my ring finger I've used, again, Barry M's rose quartz glitter. Then I used a white and nail art pen for some chilly falling snowflakes and a bare twiggy tree with snow on the branches. I've got a silver nail pen by Kiss that I used for a bit of extra sparkle and to make the snow look a bit more twinkly. I hope we get a bit of snow soon. I'm loving the frost on the roof tops in the mornings! It's raining in Winchester as I write this. Boo :(

I hope you like these wintery Christmas nails!!

CrimboJumper.A.S.nails

I cant believe its December already!! I don't know about everybody else but I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet! Oops.
But I'm definitely getting excited and feeling festive. And this is my first nail art Christmas post.

These are my take on a cheesy Christmas jumper with a fairisle print. I used Essie for the white and a nail art pen in red for the print detail. I used a polish from Barry M's glitter range - Rose Quartz Glitter. I love it! With this you could try one coat over another colour or, like I did, about 3 coats to get it super sparkly! It's so pretty, the photo doesn't really do it justice.
(The bauble is from my lovely tree!)

Have a great evening!

Christmas.A.S.Nails

Christmas has officially started (although I do believe it actually starts as soon as you see the Coca Cola advert!)! It's getting rather chilly too so don't forget to wrap up nice and warm. Fingers-less gloves are great as you can still show off your lovely nail art.
So these are the start of our Christmas nails. A bit of an assortment here with some snow flakes and fairisle and, of course, some glitter! For these I used Barry M Retro Red which I got free from Boots when I bought two other polishes - a good excuse to buy more nail polish! I have also used their Gelly Nail Paint in Watermelon - we tested these out previously which you can see here. Finally for the glitter I used one of their new Christmas paints which are from Superdrug and Boots. For the detailing I used my Models Own White nail art pen.
I hope you're all starting your Christmas shopping and have put some lovely glittery nail paints on your Christmas list!!
Have a great week!!

Neon.A.S.nails

Hello and good morning!!

Today's nails are done using Barry M's Grey and a Rio nail art pen in this lime neon green. I don't usually chose either of these colours first out of my nail polish collection but I fancied something different today and I love the two colours together because they are so random!! And to continue the random colour combo I chose to do different designs on each nail using dots and lines - easy to do with a thin nail art pen/brush. Rio nail art pens are the ones I always tend to go for and they cost £4.95 each or you can get sets of 8 different colours for £24.99 from their website.
I used a good clear Models Own top coat to finish them off nicely.

Send us your random designs and colour combinations - we'd love to see them.

Happy Tuesday x

Balloons.A.S.Nails

It's Birthday week!! Alice has just arrived in Paris and i'm back in my home town watching the rain drizzle down the window. I think i would prefer to be with Alice right now! Anyone else agree?
To celebrate our birthdays I have done some cute balloon nails. I didn't want to do a bunch of balloons so I just did one balloon gradually floating away. For the base colour I used one of my favourite Barry M blues - Blue Moon. I did 2 coats as it is quite an opaque colour. For the balloon I used my pink nail art pen from Tantrum and the black and while detail I used Models Own.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and if it's your birthday too then HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Paris.A.S.nails

Apologies for my lack of posts in the last 2 weeks!! I know Sophie has been blogging her share but I've just been super busy with work/this time of year.

This week starts and ends with mine and Sophie's birthdays - Yey!! Happy Birthday for yesterday Soph :)

And I am off to Paris for mine this weekend which is why I couldn't resist trying some France inspired nail art today.

The red is Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Polish. It's such a gorgeous colour, plus it has a thicker and flatter 'Maxi Brush' which makes application quick and easy. I used two coats of this with a clear top coat using Barry M's clear base/top coat.

The base of my ring finger is Essie - white and I used some red, white, blue and black nail art pens to draw the Eiffel Tower, little heart, and French flag colour stripes on my the thumb nail.

These have definitely got me very excited about going! I hope you like them.

Have a lovely day everyone!

GlitterFlakes.A.S.Nails

Helloooooooo readers!! I hope you all had a nice weekend...some of you may have started your Christmas shopping which is always exciting whereas, i'm useless and haven't come close to starting!

Today I have some wintery nails for you as it's starting to get rather chilly. For these I used Models Own Pinky Grey which you can get from here and also their nail art pens which I used to create the snowflake. For the glitter I just sprinkled it on quite thickly at the bottom of my nail and lighter on the way up, tapping off the excess after. The gold lines are with Barry M gold effects which you can get from here. These are easy, wintery and great for catching peoples eye!

I hope you like them and give them a go!

Fireworks.A.S.nails

Remember, remember....

We hope everybody enjoyed ooo-ing and aaah-ing at Guy Fawks night yesterday/over the weekend!! I love a big bonfire, watching some amazing fireworks, sparklers and all the food that goes with bonfire night.

So today, although a day late, these are my firework nails. The base is Barry M Black Glitter. I love it because it has a sparkle in with the glossy black colour so for this theme it acts as the starry sky. I used Kiss nail art pen in a silver sparkle for the main lines in the fireworks on my ring and thumb nail. Over the top of this I used Barry M Aqua Glitter and Copper to add some extra colour to it.

Have a lovely day everyone!! Wrap up warm and get those finger-less mittens out to show off your nail art!

Friday 2 November 2012

BloodSplatter.A.S.Nails

Happy happy Friday!!!! Yay!!

Today is the final Halloween nails day and to end it I have some blood splatter nails! For these I used Barry M Nude for the base and Tantrum nail art pen for the splatter. To do these i used the straw blowing method... Although I didn't have a straw so I improvised and used a pen without the ink and ends. So all you do is dip one end in the red polish and then blow through the pen/straw. I found the best splatter happened when you blow with force (there's no easy way to word that without sounding slightly rude)!

Anyway... Have a lovely weekend! Enjoy any Halloween parties you may be going to!

Movember.A.S.nails

I honestly can't believe I'm writing this but....! But it's here...November 1st!! Which doesn't just mean its 25 days till my birthday but also marks the start of the testicular and prostate cancer awareness month Movember!! For those of you that don't know, just like last month was to raise awareness for us women and breast cancer, this month is a charity event and raises awareness for the men. And to do this some choose to grow a moustache throughout the WHOLE of November! Wow.
But I thought of a way to get the girls involved too. Movember nail art!!

So today I've chosen to draw 4 different 'Mo's' on my nails because, let's face it every man can style theirs in a different way! I've used Barry M-Nude again for the base and a black & red nail art pen for the rest. I <3 movember!!

So we are looking forward to seeing your mo themed nail art to show your support to all those guys out there that have ditched the razor - & not forgetting the poor girls who will be putting up with them :) but it's all for an excellent cause!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone x

Wednesday 31 October 2012

HappyHalloween!!

Today is the day that Halloween nail art really counts so I hope you all are sporting some super spooky nails.

Today I have some great pumpkin nails. Halloween isn't the same without some pumpkins around the house. For these I used Barry M tangerine and Models Own nail art pen in black. These are great as you can do a variety of pumpkin faces or the same on each nail. If you haven't got some Halloween nails already I think you should give these easy nails a go!

We will be carrying on the Halloween nail art all week as like me you may have some parties to attend at the weekend. If you would like to show us your spooky nails (we would LOVE to see them) then show us on twitter @cute_as_nails

I hope you have a frightfully good day everyone!

Tuesday 30 October 2012

Blood.A.S.nails

It's Halloween tomorrow and this week we're having a bit of a themed week!! Soph's wicked skeleton nails yesterday were amazing to start the week with and today I am treating you to some creepy dripping blood nails that I've done. (and I couldn't resist showing my carved pirate skull pumpkin in one of the photo's too haha)

I've used this gorgeous subtle nude colour by Barry M for the main base colour. I used around 3 coats to get a nice pinky colour. For the blood I used a nail art pen to create the drips.

These are so easy to do and perfect to match with any Halloween costume. I love these two colours together but for more of an effect you could try a black background with red drips. Or even black with lime green drips to look like slime!!

Have a great Halloween everyone!!

Skeletons.A.S.Nails

Hello readers! I know we haven't posted for over a week but I have been away up North where there was no internet or signal... Nightmare for a blogger!

I hope you have all had a good week and have been practising and trying out some great Halloween nail art!

Here are my first Halloween nails.... Skeletons!! For these I used Barry M's Black and Black Multi Glitter and Models Own White Nail Art Pen for the skeleton detail. This is an easy and fun Halloween nail art that you can all do.

Anyway... We will have some more Halloween nails this week so you can all get some ideas for any Halloween parties!

Friday 19 October 2012

Grey.A.S.Nails

Happy Friday!!! So i know this is terribly titled but we seem to have a lot of spotty/stripes titles. Alice's Halloween nails have been great this week and I am planning to start doing some scary nails next week!

So today I have some pretty matte grey nails using Models Own 'pinky grey' and 'battleship grey' and then a pretty pink nail using Essie's 'Muchi Muchi' (I seem to over use this one!). I used the different colours for spots and also a white nail are pen - I also used this for the single line on my thumb and pinky. I topped these off with Rimmel pro Matte effect as I love the Matte look! I do think these would look just as great with a nice shine too.

Another note... On Barry M's Facebook page yesterday they were asking what colour nail art pens people would want if they were to do some. We are very much hoping they will be doing some pens as they are pretty essential when trying out nail art. We love Barry M polishes and can't wait for these new additions to their ever growing collection (and ours!)! What do you all think?

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Thursday 18 October 2012

Fangs.A.S.nails

Some more Halloween inspired nails for you today...but a lot more subtle!

I love the Rimmel Lycra nail polish in this gorgeous red colour! I'm going for a spooky, monster feel so the blood red matches nicely with the fangs on my accent nail!!

I've got two coats of red and a clear top coat (by Barry M) so that's how I've got the amazing glossy shine. For the vampire fangs I used Rio nail art pens in black and white - again proving you don't have to have an array of fancy colours.
Just grab a couple of £5 nail art pens in the colours you think you will use most and you can do so much with them.

I carefully used the white to give a rough feel of what i wanted the teeth to look like and then used the black to outline it to make them look neater. Finally colouring in the middle of the 'mouth' in black too! And they're done. Easy!!

Have a great Thursday. And don't forget to send Sophie and I your very own Halloween nail art!!

Monday 15 October 2012

ScaryFaces.A.S.nails

Today I've finally got around to doing some Halloween themed nail art When I started thinking about it there are so many ideas to chose from!! I will probably try out some more in the next couple of weeks.

But for these I've done:
a Pumpkin face, Mummy face, Vampire face, Frankenstein face and a Ghost. All you need for these are black and white nail art pens for the detail so anyone can try them - you don't have to have masses of fancy colours!

I hope you like these scary faces!! My favourite is the mummy. When I was looking at some other Halloween designs online I saw some amazing Exorcist ones!! I think that's my favourite scary movie!

What Halloween nail art have you come up with? Sophie and I would love to see :)

PinkFriday.A.S.Nails

Yes that's right, it's Pink Friday again! Yay! So if you're not aware Pink Friday's are there to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and donate to such a worthy charity. So get those pink polishes, clothes, lipstick and anything else pink so raise awareness!

Today i have some very girly, glittery and pink nails. For these I used Muchi Muchi by Essie - a very beautiful pale pink, and for the glitter fade I used Disco Inferno by Models Own from the Mirrorball collection. I love Essie's colours and thick brushes as they are easy to apply and have a wonderful finish. The Glitter fade was easy to do and I did just end up blobbing (technical term again) most of it on the tips! Make sure you add a top coat otherwise you will find the glitter being a bit prickly and you want it nice and smoothhhhh.

Just a quick note...

Camouflage.A.S.Nails

Hello readers! Sorry for the late-ish post!

Today I am very excited to use and show you my first new purchase's from Models Own sale!!

Here we go... Camouflage nails!! For these I used my new Grace Green by Models Own for the base colour and then i did one accent nail as I didn't want to go OTT on the camouflage! For this nail I just did random blobbing (probably not the technical term) using Fall Brown (Models Own Pro) and Concrete Mix - very strange name if you ask me!!

These are easy, earthy and very much go with this seasons army/camo style.
The Models Own polishes are nice and thick and you really only have to do one thick coat which I love.

I hope you like them everyone. I hope you've had a lovely day. Not long until the weekend!!

Monday 8 October 2012

Tribal.A.S.nails

These are my first attempt at some tribal inspired nails. I like having just the thumb and ring finger with the pattern on but I am planning to get better at these tricky tribal designs so I can do it on every finger nail with ease!!
Ive seen a lot of tribal nail wraps around but thought I would try and do them free hand.
I found that as long as you use the same colours on each nail and do a combination of stripes, dots and zig-zags it will look tribal! And the colours don't even have to match! For example, I chose orange, yellow red and blue which don't match at all!! The more they clash, the better!
You can design different patterns on each nail which is great to experiment with. Just add in white and black - I used Rio nail art pens.
The orange is Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in Satsuma (which I'm still loving).

Have a good day!

Friday 5 October 2012

PinkFriday.A.S.Nails

Friday funday!!! As you all know it is Breast Cancer Awareness month! At my work we're doing different things every Friday including having a sponsored head shave (not me!) but mainly dressing in pink! Today i also have some Think Pink Breast cancer nails!

For these I used Essie's Muchi Muchi for the base and then Models Own pink and white nail art pens, including Tantrums pale pink nail art pen.

These are simple nails and people will notice them then, maybe even donate to such a great cause! Remember every penny counts! You could even paint peoples nails at work if they donate some money.

Just a quick note...

If you would like to sponsor my lovely friend Harry to have his head shaved then please text MINI64 and the amount (eg. MINI64 £5) For Breast Cancer Care and MINI67 and the amount for MS Society (a charity close to Harrys heart) to 70070. Or you can visit the justgiving pages....

Satsuma&Gold.A.S.nails

Bit of a rubbish name today, but I wasn't sure what to call these...

Anyway, I love them because of their rich autumnal colours - and I love the orange and gold together!

The orange is the fantastic Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint by Barry M in Satsuma. I've been dying to try them, especially this colour, after reading Sophie's review a few weeks ago and I was SO impressed!
I did add a clear top coat because I don't want it to chip and I want it to last for the weekend but I didn't need to - its so shiny!!

My accent ring finger nail has a coat (or 3) of the the Models Own Mirrorball collection gold glitter called Disco Inferno.

I hope you like these. What autumn colours have you experimented with? We'd love to see. Have a great weekend!

Monday 1 October 2012

Glitter.A.S.nails

Today I've got some super sparkly nails to show you all!! And they are curtesy of Models Own Mirrorball collection.

We won these beauties by entering a competition and I am loving the prize.

I've chosen the greeny/gold one that's called Dancing Queen, with a layer of the pink one on top which is called Hot Stuff!
They also come in:
Blue - Freak Out!
Gold - Disco Inferno
Purple - Boogie Nights.
I'm loving the 70's names too! They cost £5 a bottle or a set of 5 is £20.

It's a clear varnish with lots of glitter so I had to do about two or three coats in total to get this great burst of glitzyness!! The great thing about these are you can wear them alone, over another colour base coat or use as a gradual frosting effect!

Finally make sure you paint a layer of clear top coat to get a smooth finish otherwise it might be a bit rough and not last as long.

I hope this inspires you all to try these out and, as Models Own say, take your nails from boring to BLING!

Have a great day!

FallingSpots.A.S.Nails

Hello readers! It's Monday which means the start of another week of work until we can all play again!

Today I have (something I struggled to name) some 'falling spots' nails. These were very easy to do so you can all have a go and it would be great to see what colour combinations you can all come up with. For mine I used Barry M grey and Models Own white nail art pen to do the spots and stripes. I also wanted to add a matte effect so I used Rimmel Pro Matte effect before I did the spots to give it a bit of contrast. You can always use a dotting tool or even a tooth pick for the spots.

Anyway you lovely readers, I hope your Monday isn't too bad. Just keep on smiling!

Thursday 27 September 2012

ThinkPink.A.S.nails

Happy Thursday everybody!! Didn't you all just LOVE Sophie's nails yesterday?! I did!

Its nearly the weekend...and nearly the start of October!

And October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
So today I have some pretty pink nails that I will be wearing to raise awareness for this all to familiar cause and letting people know that October isnt all about Halloween. It's the month to THINK PINK!

I've used Barry M's lovely pale pink for the base and their Fushia pink for the detail. I've also added some detail on the middle nails using some silver rhinestones to add an extra girlie touch.

These are to help us remember.

So girls, whether you're raising money, wearing a pink ribbon or trying out this nail art...people (including strangers) will notice, comment and help to raise awareness. Which is a great thing.
Send us your nail designs too!!

For my Mummy x

AliceInWonderland.A.S.Nails

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late post, I've had a busy busy day!

Today we have some nails in honour of my partner in crime (Alice) - Alice in Wonderland nails!!

From thumb to pinky we have; The Rabbits ears and pocket watch with 'Im late' , Alice's blue dress and head bow, The Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and a little 'drink me' bottle.

For these I used Models Own 'snow white' for most of the base colours and their nail art pens for the detail. For the Cheshire Cat I used Barry M Berry ice cream.

I hope Alice likes these :D and I hope you all like them too! Are there any fairy tales you have painted? Tweet it to us!!

Enjoy your evening lovely readers!

Spots&Ditsy.A.S.nails

Good Morning readers!

I'm writing all the way from cold, rainy Cardiff this week! Training for work, very dull...But today's nails are far from that! (also, I didn't know what to name them today).

The base coat is one of my new favourite colours at the moment. It's actually by Next and it's a lovely mushroom/taupe/grey shade. Which I've read is going to be a big colour for Autumn/Winter!

The base coat on the accent ring fingers is a gorgeous pale pink by Barry M. With a cute/messy ditsy, floral print on top (also using Rio pens).

I think the pinks and taupe go surprisingly well together.

Try them :) and have a lovely Tuesday.

Friday 21 September 2012

Houndstooth.A.S.Nails

Happy Friday readers! I hope you all have a nice weekend planned... You can tell us all about it on our twitter @cute_AS_nails as we would love to know!

For today's nails I have some lovely nude nails with a Houndstooth accent nail! The nude is by Barry M, which is very translucent so I had to do quite a few coats to make it this opaque. For the Houndstooth nail I painted it white using Models Own 'snow white' and then using their black nail art striper I painted 3 lines from finger to tip. I then used their white striper and painted lines across so the nails looked checkered. Finally I added the rest of the little line detail with the black. Once you get the hang of it then it's not as hard as it first sounds. You can always cheat and get the nail wraps (teehee)!

I hope you like these and give it a go yourselves! Have a great weekend and we will see you all next week!

Wednesday 19 September 2012

Floral.A.S.nails

The weekend is so close...this week has gone a little too slow for my liking but today I have some bright and cheery nails!! Yey!

And these floral nails are easy peasy!!

Simply chose your base colour...I chose Barry M - Lemon.
'Blob' (technical term!) on the colour you want your flowers to be...I chose Barry M - Fushia. These blobs can be any size and shape which is what makes these so great but keep to about 3 per nail.
Next, using green, draw on your leaves. (I used Rio nail art pens in dark green).
Finally, using a contrasting colour, carefully draw the detail in your flower - I chose Kiss nail paint in Lilac.

And there you have it...

I would definitely recommend trying this simple design and we'd love to see what colours you come up with.

Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

LiquoriceAllsorts.A.S.Nails

Helloooo lovely readers! I hope you're having a good week so far.

To carry on the fun theme this week I have done some yummy Liquorice Allsorts nails! When it comes to actually eating these sweets I only like the pink and blue ones with little balls on. Not a big fan of the square ones. But they do make some fun nail art!

For these I used Essie's Muchi Muchi for the base coat (big fan of this pretty pink) and then a range of Barry M colours and Models Own art pens for all the sweet detail.

These nails are a bit of fun, easy to do and kids seem to love them!

Have a wonderful day readers!

Monday 17 September 2012

MarioWorld.A.S.nails

I'm home from my holiday now and what great reviews of the New Barry M Gelly Nail Paint by Sophie last week to come back to! Loved reading it and it felt like I'd already tried them as Sophie gave such a detailed review! Can't wait to try them all!!

Today I have some fun Super Mario World nails which I've been wanting to do for ages as I've seen similar ones on another nail art blog before.
My Sister, Brother and I used to love playing this game on our old Nintendo growing up (I was always Princess Peach) so this is a great way of reliving my childhood memories haha.

Hopefully you can see what each nail is supposed to be!

I used Rio nail art pens for all of the detail and another favourite colour of mine, Barry M's sky blue.

Have a lovely day everyone!!

Friday 14 September 2012

Retro.A.S.nails

Happy happy Friday everyone!!! Another week has passed, very quickly I might add!

Today I have got some cool and slightly retro looking nails. For these I used Essie - Mint Candy Apple and Muchi, Muchi and Barry M - Peach Melba and Berry ice cream. I used Models Own pens for the lines. These were easy to do and fun when it came to deciding what the next nail should have! I think these colours work great together even though I should probably be moving into the more Autumn shades. I think I'm trying to hold onto summer for just that bit longer.

I hope you have some lovely plans for the weekend and planning on rocking some of that new Models Own Mirrorball collection - I know I will be!

Next week Alice will be back showcasing her lovely tan and beautiful nails!

Thursday 13 September 2012

MoreGelly.A.S.nails

Wow. It's nearly the end of the week already!! I apologise for the lack of posts. Alice is still sunning herself in Cyprus. Still jealous!

Anyway, hopefully most of you saw my Barry M Gelly Nail Paint post on Monday so you might like this one too! I have acquired another colour!!! Yay! This lucky colour is Satsuma.

Looking at the bottle it is a lovely deep orange which at first didn't really excite me as i'm not really a massive orange lover. Warily I started to paint thick coats on. Like the other paints the shine was instant which is what makes me love them so much! I let them dry and took a while to decide whether this colour was for me.... Although it is a lovely deep orange, i'm still not too keen. I think this colour would suit Alice a lot more especially with her beautiful tan!

All in all it does what it says on the tin - hi shine, which is what we want! So my verdict is... Buy it!!
This colour and the others will be available for an amazing price of £3.99 on Barrym.com on the 21st of September (not too much longer). If you want to buy in store then they will be available at Superdrug - 26th September and Boots - 3rd October.

Exciting!! Enjoy your day readers!

Monday 10 September 2012

GellyPolish.A.S.Nails

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy some of the lovely weather we've been having!

So Alice and I have been lucky enough to try out and review Barry M's NEW Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints! They are a new range that create a very shiny finish in just one coat (which is what we all want in a nail polish). They come in a wide range of colours which we are very excited about - here's a list of them for all our lovely readers: Plum (Purple), Blackberry (Navy), Watermelon (Dark Green), Blood Orange (Red), Blueberry (Light blue), Prickly Pear (Light Purple), Satsuma (Orange), Grapefruit (Pink), Pomegranate (Hot Pink). I don't think i have a favourite yet but I have my eye on a few colours.

So... here we go. We got to try three of these colours - Grapefruit (pink), Pomegranate (hot pink) and Prickly Pear (light purple). Firstly I gave the Grapefruit a go. I used quite a thick coat at first but worked out that it wasn't really necessary as the colour was dark enough to be able to apply a thinner coat. As soon as I applied the polish it was already shiny! Impressed.

Next one I tried was Pomegranate (hot pink). If you see the bottle you wouldn't really call it a hot pink, I think it is a bit more of a raspberry colour, a darker reddy pink, but I will let you judge the colour. Again I didn't have to use a thick coat, it went on smoothly and the shine was instant. So far Pomegranate is a fave as it stands out more. (Sorry for the shabby painting). One thing I would say about this one is that when you take it off, like all dark nail polishes, it stains your fingers a bit so make sure you wash your hands after in some warm water - that should make it a bit better on your fingers.

Finally I tried Prickly Pear (light purple). For this I started off with a thin coat like the other two however as it is a lot lighter in colour I found you have to do a slightly thicker coat. If you do do a thin coat then you will have to do another coat so if you want to save some time, just do a thick first coat. This colour is more my colour; light and more of a pastel. Again the shine was instant. I think I found a new favourite as well! These polishes are great for a 'just been to the salon for hours' look but with a lot more ease and obviously a lot less time! Another thing I noticed is that they dry particularly quickly - another great plus for this nail polish.

So these lovely polishes will be available on Barry M's website Barrym.com on September 21st and you won't have to save up too much for them as they are only £3.99 each! Amazing! If you can wait and want to buy them in store then they will be launched in Superdrug September 26th and in Boots October 3rd.

Have a lovely day everyone and put that date in your diary's! We know we will be... anyone else like the sound of Watermelon? Mmmmm.

BeachScene.A.S.nails

Almost the weekend Yey!

So last week I did some holiday nails and to carry on from them I have more holiday inspired nails - a beach scene across them.
Now there is quite a bit going on but then beaches are busy places and there's always something to see on a busy beach - sometimes things you don't want to see! Haha

From thumb to pinky I've drawn:
A lady sunbathing. A sun umbrella and boat in the distance. A boat and 2 boys playing volley ball. A lady flying a kite and finally, a swimmer.

I used Barry M for every colour on this design except for the black and white, they are Rio nail art pens.

Have a lovely week!!
I'm on the way to the airport as I write but Sophie will still be posting some of her great nails so keep on viewing :)

We are also entering a competition with Travel Supermarket. Here is the link if you want to enter too! http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/holidays/beauty-and-the-beach/

Happy mid-week!! I hope you're having a lovely week so far. The weather has been amazing!!

For todays nails I have done some zebra nails! For these I used Models Own Snow White for the base and their black nail art pen for the print! You gotta love animal print. For a bit of 'randomness' I have my ring finger painted with Barry M Silver Multi Glitter. I am currently loving Barry M's glitter range! I suggest you all go and buy at LEAST one of them!!

I hope you enjoy these nails and enjoy your day! I hope you all get a bit of Sun <3

118.A.S.nails

It's another Tuesday! And today I have some nails that some of you will get and some may not...these are my take on the comedy 118 118 advert. And another example of random, un-obvious, 'anything' nail art!

I've drawn the vests that the two guys wear (complete with curly chest hair on the one on my thumb). And their famous moustache, on my middle finger.

For these I used Essie white, Rio red and Rio black. For the skin colour I used Barry M peach melba - a favourite!

Hope you like, and get, these!!

Have a lovely day fellow nail art lovers.

Marbles.A.S.nails

Yay!!! It's Friday!!!!! I'm very excited for this weekend as Im going home to see my family and friends. It also mean A.S.nails can have a little meeting and brainstorm some nail ideas! Woooooo.

Today i have some, slightly rubbish, marbleing nails. I tried this quite a few times and struggled. I gave up as i couldn't get the effect I wanted but I will try again one day. You all have probably seen pictures or videos on this nail technique. I have seen some where people have just put a drop of nail polish on the nail and swirled it around with a tooth pick (or something similar), I personally don't think this way looks as good as the messy water way.

So I did the messy way. Taped up my fingers, swirled some varnish around in water, dipped in my nail and ta da... Marble nails!!

I think if I attempt this again i will make a video for you all... Maybe that's something Alice and I can do together at some point!

Finally for these nails I used Barry M (of course, like always) Peach Melba, Grey and Mint Green.

Have an amazing weekend everyone!! Keep on painting!
